On October 10, Guttman faculty, staff, and administrators gathered for the semi-annual All-College Faculty-Staff Meeting. All-campus gatherings are a College tradition where the community gathers to exchange ideas, deepen and better understand Guttman’s culture and practices, and identify areas for improvement.
President Scott E. Evenbeck opened the session by noting several College milestones, including the celebration of its five-year anniversary, its new governance plan, and the extension of the building lease to 2023. Howard M. Wach, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, then offered his sixth-month perspective serving as the Provost, noting the various strengths challenges at the College. He also reviewed the academic priorities, such as building the professional development program for faculty and strengthening the programs of study.
A panel discussion moderated by Nestor Melendez, Director of Student Leadership and Campus Life, offered insightful student perspectives. SGA President Onasis Cirineo and Vice President Hector Castillo and alumni and Peer Mentors Hannia Delgado and Kenia Marte discussed what attracted them to the College and the best aspects of campus life and culture. They also shared experiences from their first year at Guttman and at their senior colleges.
Matthew Au, Institutional Research Specialist for Surveys and Assessment, followed the panel to provide highlights of the Guttman Student Survey administered in April 2017 and the Noel-Levitz Employee Satisfaction Survey administered in May 2017. Full results will be available on the CCE ePortfolio. The meeting concluded with Stuart Cochran, Dean of Strategic Planning and Accreditation, discussing the new Strategic Plan for FY 2018-2022 as it relates to CUNY’s strategic framework (Connected CUNY). Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit strategic initiatives for consideration in the new plan.
