As part of its Black History Month celebration, Guttman Community College was proud to welcome the Honorable New York Assemblyman Michael Blake on February 9. Assemblyman Blake gave a passionate talk to students, encouraging them to be ‘resilient risers’ who do not sit on the sidelines but instead participate. “You can change the paradigm for somebody else. We need you to do well in school to help someone else,” he asserted. Assemblyman Blake also stressed to students the 5 Ps: Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance and the importance of believing in themselves. “Your zip code won’t deny your destiny,” he concluded.
