Congratulations to Our Inaugural Class!
Message from the President:
Dear Students and Families,
On behalf of the faculty and staff at Guttman Community college, I extend my warmest congratulations on your remarkable accomplishment in being the first graduates of CUNY’s newest community college in over 40 years. It is my pleasure to invite you to join us as we honor the Class of 2014 during Guttman’s first commencement on August 27 at John Jay College’s Gerald Lynch Theater.
When we opened the College in August 2012, we set out to redefine community college education. Our focus has been on improving student success by providing the support and guidance to keep you on track to graduate and continue your studies at a four-year college and embark on your careers. We are very proud of your hard work and achievements.
As we approach this time of celebration, I encourage you to reflect on those moments at Guttman that have transformed you as an individual, as a student, and as an engaged citizen of New York City. Remember that the relationships you have cultivated and the lessons you have learned at Guttman will continue beyond the walls of our classrooms for years to come.
As alumni, you — the Class of 2014 — will be the first class to represent the College. I am honored to have served as president during your two years at Guttman and wish you all the best in your future academic and professional lives.
