Ethnographies of Work ethnorgraphic class presentations.

Ethnographies of Work presentations on December 11, 2018.

On December 11, Ethnographies of Work first-year students (House 4, Cohort 3) from Professor Mary Gatta’s class presented their original ethnographic research based on October 30 and November 27 visits to the following organizations:

  • West Harlem Group Assistance
  • Cookfox Architects
  • Serino Coyne
  • SOMPO International
  • ASME
  • New York City Bar Association

The seven groups researched the experiences of workers in the different organization using their newly learned ethnographic skills.  They conducted a literature review, visited the workplaces to conduct observational studies and in-depth interviews, and then analyzed their findings. Representatives from each of the seven organizations attended the presentations to provide feedback. This is the fourth year the Ethnographies of Work course has partnered with the Society for Human Resource Managers on this project.
