On May 20, the Human Services program held its fifth annual Fieldwork Recognition Ceremony in partnership with the Guttman Offices of AccessABILITY and Partnerships and Community Engagement. The event celebrated the 42 Human Services interns who successfully completed their required 250 hours of fieldwork placement during the 2018-2019 academic year, their supervisors, and the program’s participating partner agencies throughout the city. Nancy Dessables, Academic Field Placement Coordinator for the Human Services program, moderated the ceremony. Dr. Howard M. Wach, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, welcomed guests and Human Services Professors Marcia Edwards and Nicole Kras gave brief congratulatory remarks.
The following awards were presented:
- Supervisory Award: Yannis Bacalis, Program Coordinator at the Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement
- Agency Award: Housing Works
- Susannah DePalo, Vice President of ADHC, Operations-Health Services
- Claudia-Orozco-London, Director of Revenue Management, Health Services ADHC
The 2018-2019 participating agencies and the Human Services student interns were recognized and given certificates. Jose Hernandez, Human Services intern at Neighborhood SHOPP in the Bronx, gave the student keynote address. Niesha Ziehmke, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, offered closing remarks and appreciation to Professor Marcia Edwards for serving as Human Services Program Coordinator during the last few years.
