Guttman Chief Librarian Amy Beth, along with CUNY colleagues Ann Fiddler, CUNY Office of Library Services; Jean Amaral and Gina Cherry, Borough of Manhattan Community College, gave a presentation at the Open Education Global Conference in Milan, Italy, titled, “Open Platforms for Open Educational Resources” on November 28. The presentation focused on the development and use of CUNY-based free open source software platforms that can serve open materials and enable open pedagogy. The platforms, Commons in a Box and Manifold Scholarship, offer vibrant spaces to build collaborative communities of practice around teaching, learning, and research, and to publish OER work in multimodal, interactive formats. “The Open Education Global Conference was a marvelous international gathering and marvelous opportunity not only to showcase our work in CUNY but to learn and prepare to continue to help our work grow,” said Beth
