United Men of Color (UMOC)

The United Men of Color (UMOC) program at Stella and Charles Guttman Community College is designed to provide an inclusive and supportive space where men of color, in particular, can receive academic support, mentoring, and have the opportunity to engage in social-cultural dialogue that will enhance their understanding of self and their relationship to different communities. At UMOC, our scholars participate in a variety of activities that include but are not limited to monthly workshops, community service projects, and program initiatives designed to build character and a sense of community amongst participants. UMOC is part of the larger CUNY Black Male Initiative umbrella.

Women of Gratitude, Resilience, Integrity, and Talent (GRIT)

The Women of Gratitude, Resilience, Integrity, and Talent (GRIT) mentorship program is open to all women/women-identified students, with a focus on freshmen at Stella and Charles Guttman Community College. Students will participate in a series of monthly workshops that are designed to foster a sense of community and leadership, and promote academic, personal and professional success.

Heritage Month Celebrations

Guttman is committed to embracing and celebrating its vibrant cultural and ethnic diversity by honoring traditions and recognizing the contributions of the various communities that make up our family.  The following month long celebrations are officially recognized as part of Guttman’s programming for its community:  LatinX Heritage Month (Sept. – Oct.), LGBTQ+ History Month (Oct.), Black History Month (Jan. – Feb.), Women’s Her-story Month (March), and Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month (April).  Committees for each of these heritage weeks are comprised of students, staff and faculty.  Everyone is welcome to become a member of any committee.

Office of AccessABILITY

The Office of AccessABILITY Services provides and coordinates reasonable accommodations and support services to students with disabilities, as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and strive to increase the level of disability awareness among all members of the Guttman community.

Office of Wellness

At Guttman, Wellness focuses on your mental and emotional wellbeing. We provide short-term, mental health counseling to help unclutter and remove obstacles that may be holding you back. It’s a safe and open place where you can express yourself and learn effective tools to help you now and in the future!

UndocuALLY

Guttman Community College’s UndocuALLY initiative seeks to provide a safe space for students, faculty, and staff to show support and love for the undocumented community.  The space is student-centered and student-led.  It aims to be a place to share experiences, knowledge, and resources to unite and advance the advocacy work for the undocumented.

Global Guttman

Stella and Charles Guttman Community College is firmly committed to providing its students with dynamic, relevant and rigorous academic experiences. Experiential learning has always been a core tenet of the pedagogical model, and more recently global experiential learning opportunities have become increasingly prioritized. The Global Guttman Program is comprised of two branches – Study Abroad and Campus-Based Global Learning Programming.

Safe Zone

Guttman Community College is committed to creating safe and affirming environments for all LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) students and providing the necessary information and skills for our community members to do so. Safe Zone is a campus-wide program designed to provide foundational knowledge needed to support and act in solidarity with LGBTQ+ populations. Safe Zone is designed to visibly identify a network of students, staff, and faculty who support the LGBTQ+ population, better understand LGBTQ+ communities and some of the issues the community faces, and are aware of various LGBTQ+ resources available.
