Nila Bhaumik, Executive Director of Human Resources, joined Guttman Community College in March 2015. As Executive Director, Nila is responsible for overseeing and directing the college’s human resources functions and making sure it is in accordance with University policies and regulations, college governance, collective bargaining agreements, as well as federal, state and local employment laws. Nila oversees the human resources and payroll functions of the college and leads the human resources team in serving the Guttman community. As Executive Director, Nila participates in the College’s strategic and operational planning process by being the divisional and unit representative on the College Council and the Strategic Planning Committee. She works closely with the senior executive team in helping the college meet strategic priorities, enhance organizational effectiveness, improve processes and implement new directives.

Nila has over twenty years of experience in Human Resources. She received her Master of Arts from Northeastern University, Boston, MA in Political Science and her Master of Science from Stony Brook University, SUNY, in Management & Policy. She is also certified in Human Resources Studies and Equal Employment Opportunity Studies from Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Nila is a member of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). Prior to Guttman, Nila served as the Deputy Director of Human Resources at LaGuardia Community College. Nila lives in Long Island with her husband, two kids and two dogs. In her spare time, Nila loves to research new places to travel, map out exciting itineraries and explore different regions of the world. When not abroad, she enjoys reading and hanging out with her dogs.

Elie joined Guttman’s HR in June 2013, after working 6 years as a Benefits Coordinator at the City College of New York. Elie serves as the Associate Director of Human Resources, overseeing benefits, payroll, time and leave, and part-time faculty and staff. She also works with the Executive Director of Human Resources on employee relations matters and serves as the College’s Workplace Violence Prevention training liaison.

Elie received her associate degree in Liberal Arts from Borough of Manhattan Community College, with honors. She earned a bachelor’s degree in International Studies, summa cum laude, and a Master of Arts in the Study of the Americas, both from the City College of New York. Elie was nominated to the TIAA Emerging Leaders Network for Human Resources Professionals, which she completed in December 2018. In January 2019, she received the President’s Award for outstanding service. Outside of work, Elie can be found on long walks throughout New York City, exploring temples and cultural art in different neighborhoods.

Michelle joined Guttman Community College in 2016 and serves as the Assistant Director for HR Operations. Michelle oversees the administration of full cycle recruitment activities for all full-time positions, and is responsible for payroll, compensation analysis, HEO Screening Committee meetings, and managing all CUNYfirst HCM processes. She is the subject matter expert for the CUNYfirst HCM Pillar. Michelle is also responsible for the contractual provisions of full‐time instructional staff employee groups (including the appointment and reappointment process, annual evaluations, contractual salary increments, and employee performance management). She develops and conducts several annual HEO Employee Performance Management Workshops for employees, managers and supervisors in preparation for their annual employee performance reviews.

Michelle received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Baruch College in Human Resources Management, with a minor in Psychology. Outside of her professional career, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and going to the movies.

Nicole Paige joined Guttman’s HR team in September 2015 and serves as Assistant Director for Employee Services. Her primary tasks involve managing the benefits for all employees, including but not limited to health insurance, pension plans, medical leaves, various pre-tax and voluntary programs and CUNY’s Employee Assistance Program. Throughout her employment at Guttman, Nicole took on additional roles, such as payroll processing and organizing employee events, including the Annual Health & Financial Awareness Open House, Getting to Know Guttman Onboarding Orientation and numerous financial and healthy lifestyle workshops.

Nicole earned her associate and bachelor’s degrees in Hospitality Management at New York City College of Technology, Summa Cum Laude, as well as an associate degree in Office Operations and Administration from Borough of Manhattan Community College, Magna Cum Laude. Outside of her employment, Nicole enjoys listening to music and visiting museums and exhibitions with her family, including her twins, Matthew and Jordin.

Travis joined Guttman’s HR team is 2017 as a College Assistant and has since transitioned into a full-time role as HR Operations Coordinator. In his current role, Travis is responsible for processing payroll-related actions, data and information processing, generating reports and conducting audits to ensure data integrity in CUNYfirst, which drives all employee information – including payroll and benefits. Travis is also responsible for all personnel actions of the adjunct faculty, including onboarding, appointment, reappointment, data tracking and personnel processing. Travis serves as the college’s recruitment coordinator, working closely with the Chief Diversity Office to coordinate the recruitment and search process for the College.

Travis received his bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from Baruch College in 2017. He prides himself on being an Island Boy, being born on the beautiful island of Saint Lucia. Travis has a deep love for his dog Saint. He enjoys traveling with friends as well as following most European soccer leagues, the NBA, and football.

Cheri joined Guttman’s HR team in 2018 and has taken on a variety of roles throughout her tenure. She currently serves as the HR Administrative Coordinator, partnering with and supporting the team in the areas of Classified Staff, college effectiveness initiatives, day-to-day operations and special projects.

Cheri received her bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and completed her graduate studies at Mercy College in Human Resource Management. Outside of her professional career, Cheri enjoys volunteering, traveling the world, visiting art galleries and attending Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.

Lisa joined Guttman Community College in August 2018. Lisa is responsible for the management of time and leave for full-time staff, the onboarding and processing of part-time classified staff (including College Assistants, Student Aides, etc.), and instructional hourly staff (Non-Teaching Adjuncts and Continuing Education Teachers).

Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics, with a minor in Chinese, from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Lisa enjoys reading delightful books, cooking delicious food, and watching entertaining YouTube videos during her leisure time.

Bao joined Guttman Community College in 2017 as a College Assistant to the Chief Diversity Officer. Joining Guttman’s HR team as Business Data and Reporting Analyst (P/T), Bao is responsible for reviewing and processing all hourly timesheets for part-time employees in preparation for bi-weekly payroll. In addition, he assists in tracking and maintaining time and leave balances for our part-time employees.

Bao received his bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management with a minor in Mathematics from Baruch College. Outside of his professional career, Bao enjoys traveling, gaming and basketball.
