Campus Access – Students, Faculty, and Staff

You must be fully vaccinated and approved in CUNYfirst or have a negative PCR test from a CUNY testing site within the last 7 days to enter campus.

Check your vaccination approval status by logging back in to CUNYfirst and clicking on Vaccination Verification. Your approval status will be listed at the top. It needs to say, “Approval: Approved”.

Entering Campus

Once your vaccination status is approved in CUNYfirst, your approval will be linked to your Guttman ID.

  1. Wear a mask
  2. Swipe in with your Guttman ID

No Guttman ID?

If your vaccination information is approved in CUNYfirst, but you do not have a Guttman ID to be able to swipe in, check your email. You should have received an email to your preferred email address in CUNYfirst from (no, it’s not spam) with a link to your “Cleared for Access” pass. Follow the link, enter the required information, download the pass, and present it to Public Safety.

Then, schedule an appointment with to get your Guttman ID!

Not Approved or Pending 14 Day Approval in CUNYfirst?

One reason you may not be granted access is because your vaccination information has not been approved.

Log in to CUNYfirst, go to Vaccination Verification and check your status. If it says, “Not Approved”, please make the necessary changes and re-submit. If it says “Pending – 14 Day Approval”, it has not been 14 days since your last dose. You will be approved once you hit the 14th day.

You will need to go through the Testing Protocol (see below) to enter campus until you are approved.

You Have an Approved Medical Exemption or Religious Exception

If you received an approved medical exemption or religious exception (check your approval status in CUNYfirst), you must follow the Testing Protocol. You must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at a CUNY testing site within the past 7 days. See below for details. Testing is required weekly. It is recommended you test every 5 days to avoid a gap.

Testing Protocol

You will be required to go through the testing protocol if:

  • You have an approved medical exemption or religious exception
  • You need to enter campus before October 21, and your vaccine verification has not been approved (yet). After October 21, you must be vaccinated to enter unless you have an approved exemption.

Testing Procedure:

  • Arrive at your appointment with a photo ID and mask. Collect your sample
  • Once test results are processed, you will receive an email with your results. If you test negative and are Cleared for Access, you will receive a Green Pass on your phone to be used to access a CUNY campus
