Each April, the United States celebrates National Poetry Month. Here at Guttman, we love poetry and poets, and we are excited to gather together online to read, write, and experience poetry. On this website, you’ll see a schedule of live Zoom events with poets from Guttman and across the country. In addition, you’ll find some videos and links to read, hear, experience, and think about poetry on your own schedule. Finally, you’ll see a link to Guttman’s National Poetry Month contest, hosted by Amplifying Student Voices. We are excited to share these events with you, and for you to share your poetry with us!
As part of our celebration of National Poetry Month, and in partnership with Amplifying Student Voices from the Guttman chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, we welcome your submission of original poetry for the first annual Guttman Poetry Contest. You can submit your poem(s), or upload a video of yourself reading your original work. Your work will be published on this website, the Amplifying Student Voices website, and Guttman’s official Instagram and Facebook accounts. The contest will be judged by members of Guttman’s faculty and staff and the winner will be presented with a prize at the May 7 Ending Single Stories celebration. The contest is open to all Guttman students.
