New York, NY (November 20, 2024) – Guttman Community College (“Guttman”) held a Cybersecurity Roundtable on November 19 to gather feedback from industry professionals and ensure its cybersecurity program continues to align with current employer demands.
The event took place on Guttman’s campus in Midtown Manhattan and included a guest list of leading New York City employers in the field of cybersecurity. The event reinforced the College’s strategic focus on increasing workforce development opportunities that follow up-to-date industry standards and meet market demand.
“Guttman is extremely grateful for the opportunity to meet with cybersecurity professionals, nonprofits and others engaged in this ever-growing field. Effective cybersecurity training isn’t just about technology—it’s about culture, communication and collaboration. The Cybersecurity Roundtable allowed us to bring together all four of these areas to help support the next generation of cybersecurity professionals,” said Dr. Larry Johnson, Guttman president.
At the meeting, industry experts provided actionable feedback to help align Guttman’s program to industry needs and improve graduates’ chances of landing entry-level roles with opportunities to grow in their roles over time. Attendees discussed and provided guidance on items such as program design, project-based ideas, internships and interviewing for jobs.
Recognizing the fast-evolving nature of the cybersecurity industry, Guttman continuously seeks input from industry experts to help guide program enhancements that will support students in securing relevant entry-level roles and career growth over time. Since launching its Cybersecurity certificate program in the Fall 2023 semester, Guttman has made significant strides in educating students in essential cybersecurity skills.
