New York, N.Y. (November 5, 2025) – Guttman Community College, part of the City University of New York, has topped Schneps Media’s “The City’s Best” list in the College/University category for 2025. The win was earned thanks to the Guttman community and readers of Schneps Media publications who cast their votes for the College during the voting period, April 11 through August 2.
“To be named The City’s Best college is an incredible honor that speaks to the heart of who we are. Our students, faculty and staff embody resilience, dedication and the belief that higher education can transform lives,” said Interim President Elizabeth de León Bhargava. “This recognition is a testament to the power of our community and to what can be achieved when we learn, lead and rise together.”
The College’s win demonstrates the strength of the Guttman community, as current students and their families, alumni, faculty, staff and others rallied to prove that Guttman may be a small college, but its influence on the city and the students it serves is felt in a significant way.
The City’s Best list is an annual initiative that gives New Yorkers the power to choose the best local businesses. Organizations are anonymously nominated by members of the public, the top nominees advance to the ballot and winners are determined by voting. For the 2025 list, voting was promoted to readers of Schneps Media’s Manhattan publications, including amNY, Chelsea Now, Downtown Express, Manhattan Express, The Villager and Villager Express. Individuals were able to submit one vote per day in each category, and tens of thousands of votes were received during the voting period. The nominees with the most votes in each category were awarded the distinction of “The City’s Best 2025.”
