The College Academic Senate (Senate) serves as the voice of faculty and members of the Student Support Staff. Subject to the guidelines of the CUNY Board of Trustees and their own bylaws, the Senate provides a forum for discussion, review, and recommendation of procedures, policies and practices related to academic matters. Senate recommendations are referred to the Council or standing committee, as appropriate, for review and action.
Senate Membership
Membership of the Senate is comprised of 24 full-time faculty members—eight from each area of practice (e.g., Humanities, Social Science, STEM); three part-time faculty members; eight full-time student support staff members; one library faculty; the deans of the Office of Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management and Student Affairs; the Provost; and the President (ex-officio).
Previous agendas and meeting notes of Senate are available upon request: Council.Secretary@guttman.cuny.edu.
Guttman faculty and staff can find information and resources for the Academic Senate on the College Governance G-Net site.
