In-Person Program Details
Program Highlights:
- Accessing and utilizing your Guttman student email and other critical technological platforms necessary for academic success.
- Understanding and managing your financial aid.
- Reviewing Guttman’s academic programs of study, empowering you to make informed decisions about your major.
- Course registration, ensuring you are enrolled in the appropriate classes for your first semester.
- Introducing you to Guttman’s distinct resources and services, including staff, and peer networks.
- Detailed information about the Bridge program.
Program Duration
- Plan to attend for 3.5 hours to complete all the steps outlined in our program mission.
Post-Orientation
- After completing the in-person orientation, students will receive access to the online New Student Orientation Companion Program found on Brightspace. This online resource includes additional videos and electronic materials to further enhance your understanding of Guttman.
Parents/Guardians/Supporters
- Parents, guardians and/or supporters are welcome to drop off and pick up students but are unable to join the sessions, as students will engage in the various group workshops as a cohort. While your student participates in their NSO activities, we invite you to explore the vibrant and exciting neighborhood of Midtown Manhattan. There’s so much to see and do while you wait!
Part 2: Online Modules
- Upon completing Part 1, you will receive an electronic message with a link to log onto Brightspace.
- Complete the Part 2 NSO online modules, which include a series of videos and a short one-question quiz for each.
Duration
- Completion of all the modules and quizzes take approximately 60-75 minutes.
Discover Bryant Park
- Just a short walk from our campus, Bryant Park offers a variety of free activities and events throughout the day. You can check out the Bryant Park Events Calendar for details on upcoming performances, movies and more.
- Enjoy local shops and restaurants: Midtown Manhattan is home to a plethora of shops, restaurants, and cafes. Whether you’re in the mood for a gourmet meal, a quick coffee or a bit of shopping, you’ll find plenty of options to explore. · Visit nearby Times Square: Experience the bustling energy of Times Square with its bright lights, iconic billboards and street performers. It’s a great spot for sightseeing and capturing those memorable moments.
- Explore local landmarks: From visiting the New York Public Library to taking a stroll through the scenic streets of Midtown, there’s plenty to see around Guttman’s campus. Check out the many landmarks and iconic buildings in the area.
If you need to address questions or submit documentation on behalf of your student, you can visit The HUB – Student Information Center on the 3rd floor. Be sure to sign in with Public Safety on the main floor and provide a valid form of identification.

Program Highlights
Part 1: One-on-One Online Advising Session
In this initial online session, you will meet with a Student Success Advisor to receive personalized support to help you get started at Guttman. You will focus on essential tasks and resources to prepare for your academic journey.
Here’s what you’ll cover

- Reviewing Guttman’s academic programs of study, empowering you to make informed decisions about your major.
- Course registration, ensuring you are enrolled in the appropriate classes for your first semester.
Meeting Duration
- Each meeting is scheduled for one hour.
Technology Requirements
- Students opting to participate in New Student Orientation online must have reliable internet/wi-fi and a laptop or desktop (phones or tablets/iPads are not feasible).
Part 2: Online Modules
- Upon completing Part 1, you will receive an electronic message with a link to log onto Brightspace.
- Complete the Part 2 NSO online modules, which include a series of videos and a short one-question quiz for each.
