Dr. Rosslyn Knight

New York, N.Y. (December 16, 2024) – Recognized for her role in institutional planning and strategic initiatives, Dr. Rosslyn Knight will serve in an expanded capacity at Guttman Community College as vice president of strategy and chief of staff, effective December 16, pending the University’s approval. Dr. Knight’s proven skills, experience and deep familiarity with the Guttman model make her ideally suited to achieve the goals the College has identified in its strategic plan

In this new position, she will ensure the seamless and successful execution of key institutional priorities and strategic initiatives, spearhead special programs to enhance Guttman’s visibility, manage the College’s interactions with political, governmental and business entities and lead continuous evaluation of policies, practices and procedures to implement best practices in coordination with the President’s Cabinet.

Dr. Knight has served as executive chief of staff at Guttman since September 2022. Throughout that time, she has overseen program budgets, personnel and day-to-day operations, while representing the College on various University-wide committees and advisory groups, including the External Relations Council, Alumni Relations Council and Advancement Council. She has successfully led high-profile, complex projects in collaboration with the College’s leadership, ensuring the effective implementation of initiatives that enhance student access, success and completion. 

Additionally, Dr. Knight brings invaluable strategic expertise in driving revenue through grants and fundraising. She has secured grants and donations, spearheading a 2023 CUNY Tuesday campaign that saw a 120% increase in donors from the previous year and establishing the Guttman Grants Team to support grants applications and the development of a cohesive grants process. She has also partnered with Assistant Dean of Institutional Research Elisa Hertz to revitalize the State of the College and All College Meetings, implementing a data-driven, macro-level approach to assess institutional goals and planning.

With more than 30 years in education, Dr. Knight has experience in curriculum development, training and teaching, including teaching internationally and with linguistically and culturally diverse student populations. She holds a Doctor of Education in Community College Leadership from San Diego State University, a Master of Education in Language and Literacy from Harvard University Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Vanderbilt University.
