Mission

The Center for Career Preparation and Partnerships (CCPP) leads Guttman’s innovative and proactive model for building industry partnerships, embedding equitable and inclusive career preparation into the curriculum and co-curriculum, and ensuring students successfully transfer to baccalaureate-granting institutions and plan for economic advancement and fulfilling careers.

Vision

The Center for Career Preparation and Partnerships will offer dynamic, equitable and inclusive professional exploration, career planning, and career competency development centered in the curriculum and co-curriculum to empower students to pursue a fulfilling professional path. CCPP will engage in innovative partnership development to involve industry representatives as co-educators in informing and invigorating the Guttman academic experience.

Valora Blackson

Valora Blackson
Director

Valora Blackson is an innovative thinker, visionary leader, and dynamic career coach who has a keen understanding of what it takes to prepare diverse students for 21st century careers. Valora holds degrees from Medaille College and the Ohio State University and has held past board positions with the Staten Island Arts Council, the American Association of University Women, and the New York City Employment and Training Coalition. International travel and photography are hobbies that bring Valora immense joy.

Patricia Jean

Patricia Jean
Career Program Manager

Patricia attended the University of Connecticut where she found her passion for higher education. As a student, Patricia was a leader on campus and worked in various offices. Her favorite job on campus was as a “Career Resource Assistant” within the Career Development Center. Prior to working in CCPP, she was a Student Success Advocate here at Guttman. Patricia had over five years of academic advising experience prior to becoming the Senior Career Advisor at CCPP. As a native New Yorker, she can relate to the students here at Guttman and loves working with them!

Tasreen Rahman

Tasreen Rahman
College Assistant

Tasreen is a former Guttman Community College graduate with an Associate of Arts degree in Urban Studies. She is currently attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice to pursue her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Services and Community Justice. She is a first-generation college student who can speak a total of four languages and is currently working on her fifth. As a full-time student, and part-time College Assistant in the Center for Career Preparation and Partnerships office, she enjoys working with students and being able to work in an educational environment as she develops her professional skills for her future career.
