Here’s a brief quiz to help you gauge how ready you are independent work via online courses:

- When given a large project, how do you typically approach it? a) Break it into smaller tasks and create a schedule b) Start working immediately and adjust as needed c) Wait until closer to the deadline to begin d) Feel overwhelmed and struggle to start

Scoring
For each question, assign the following points: a) 4 points b) 3 points c) 2 points d) 1 point. After answering all five questions, add up the total points. The maximum possible score is 20, and the minimum is 5.
Interpretation of scores:
- 17-20 points: High readiness for independent work You demonstrate excellent self-discipline, time management, and problem-solving skills. You’re likely to thrive in an online learning environment.
- 13-16 points: Good readiness for independent work You have a solid foundation for online learning but may need to strengthen some skills. With some effort, you should be able to succeed in an online environment.
- 9-12 points: Moderate readiness for independent work You may face some challenges with online learning. Consider developing your time management and self-motivation skills before starting an online course.
- 5-8 points: Low readiness for independent work You might struggle with the independent nature of online learning. It’s recommended to improve your self-discipline, time management, and technology skills before pursuing online education.

The Office of Advising and Transfer Support supports online students in several ways, including one-on-one or group advising sessions, course registration and transfer workshops and courses to help you succeed as a college student. Contact us at 646-313-8000 or advising@guttman.cuny.edu.

Registrar
Students in online programs are identified in CUNYfirst so the Office of the Registrar can assist with your specific needs.

Financial Aid and Bursar
The Office of Financial Aid offers:
- Virtual and in-person one-to-one appointments with a financial aid advisor.
- Financial advising sessions for assistance via Zoom on topics such as completing financial aid applications, reviewing your financial aid status on CUNYfirst, submitting documentation, discussing options for paying for college, exploring SAP appeals and more.

The Office of the Bursar handles all matters related to the billing and collection of tuition and fees. Please note: The office works remotely on Fridays. Any inquiries received outside of the Bursar’s hours will be returned the next scheduled business day.

Student Life
You may be virtual, but you’re still part of the Guttman community! Connect with other students as well as peer leaders through Campus Groups. (Log in with your CUNY credentials.) Peer leaders can help ease the transition to college and coach you through your educational journey at Guttman.
Additional Support
Counseling and Wellness Center
- Provides remote sessions to all students, and there are no limits on the number of sessions.

Office of AccessABILITY Services (OAS)
- Works collaboratively with the college community to facilitate equal access for students with disabilities to educational programs, services and facilities and serve as a resource on disability issues for the entire campus community.

HUB – Student Information Center
- Responds to calls as the College’s main telephone operators and can assist you with basic information and referrals to specialists in the Offices of Admissions, the Bursar, Financial Aid, the Registrar and Advising. Contact the HUB at 646-313-8080 or HUB@guttman.cuny.edu.
Offers various programs for online students, including:
- Emergency grants for help paying rent, bills and other everyday necessities; a Fresh Direct food program that allows students in the delivery area* to receive groceries (up to a $100 value);
- Community referrals based on location for assistance with food, housing, childcare, healthcare, immigration and more; and virtual assistance for filing income taxes.

*To be eligible for this program, you must live in an area that offers delivery services, including the New York metropolitan region as well as parts of Central New Jersey, Southern Connecticut and Eastern Long Island.
Library
The Library has a wealth of resources that students can access virtually to support your academic success:
- Databases, scholarly/popular articles, New York Times Digital access, e-books and reference sources are available via the Library’s website.
- OneSearch, the default search on the Library’s website, allows you find scholarly, news, and magazine articles, videos, books, e-books and journal titles. (Log in with your CUNYfirst credentials.)
- Resources to improve your information literacy, including student-led tutorials on the skills you need to conduct research.
- Free digital subscriptions to the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
- 24/7 research help from a librarian – simply use the chatbot on the Library website!

The Center for Career Preparation & Partnerships (CCPP) will you get career ready!
